Tips for Exam Testing Day

How should I prepare for the License Exam?

  • You should arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam appointment to sign in and for the Testing Facility staff to verify your identification and complete all security checks.
  • IDs must contain both a current photo and signature (if not, you must present two identification cards: one with your photo and one with your signature).
  • IDs must exactly match the name used to register for the exam (including designations such as “Jr.” and “III”).

Acceptable IDs for required identification include:

  • Driver’s License
  • Military Identification Card
  • State-Issued Identification Card
  • Passport

What is the License Exam process?

  • Remember, when you know the content, the exam is simple.®
  • Compliance with all testing facility security measures is required.
  • All testing sessions are monitored by personnel, and audio and video recording.  Be respectful, but do not let this intimidate you or make you nervous.  Their job is to protect the integrity of the examination process and assist you in the technical steps of completing the exam using their equipment.  They will help you figure out how to use the testing equipment, but they CANNOT provide any “content assistance” or in any way “clarify a question” on the exam.

Do not bring any personal or unauthorized materials into the testing room; lockers for these items will be provided by the Testing Facility.  These items include, but are not limited to:

  • Outerwear
  • Hats
  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Purses
  • Briefcases
  • Notebooks
  • Pagers
  • Watches
  • Cellular telephones
  • Recording devices
  • Photographic equipment

The license exam, just like the Simulated License Exams you will complete as part of the MaxQ Learning System®, contains ONLY four-option multiple-choice questions.
